Very slim, durable shell, and great looking!,
This case almost perfectly embodies what I like in a tough, slim shell, and it’s an added perk that it looks so nice. I have the Galaxy Tab 7.7 P6800 which is the unlocked version with an additional slot for a SIM card – the case doesn’t hinder that slot. I agree with the other reviewers about the positives points about the case, so I’ll just highlight why it works for me, and one point about how it can be improved. Also, I’ve uploaded some annotated pictures to show the case (with my tablet inserted) at a few angles since the promo photos don’t always tell the whole story
*The strap! I know there was a little bit of confusion about the purpose of this thing but I though it was pretty intuitive. The strap is on the inside of the front cover, so if you open the case and fold back the front cover (as if you’re folding back the cover of a magazine so you can hold it with one hand), you can slip your hand into the strap to prevent your tablet from slipping out of your hands. I don’t know if this is a common feature on cases, but for a case this slim, I think it’s very functional. Many times holding a tablet with just one hand feels awkward, and even though the Tab 7.7 is pretty slim, holding it for a long time can get uncomfortable. This strap relieves that and lets me secure the thing to my hand so I don’t have to grip it the entire time.
*The materials: I don’t know if it’s real leather or a faux leather; it lacks any kind of a leather smell. The outside has a nice soft-leather touch to it though. It feels as though the back and front covers are reinforced with hard cardboard – not at all flimsy or cheap feeling. The inside has something that feels like suede, and is not abrasive to the screen. It also doesn’t shed bits of fiber like cheaper material might. Both the outer leather and inner suede are sewn tightly and cleanly into the inner cardboard. There is no inner padding to speak of, so I wouldn’t trust this case with any kind of drop at any height, but I will trust it to prevent damage from slight knocks, dings, and scratches of all kinds. Overall, this case has a nice look to it inside and out, and it feels sturdy yet soft.
*The fasteners/clips: I’m always wary of cases that abrasively clip onto the device itself because of possibly damaging it through scratching and wearing. The majority of this cases fastening system involves sliding the tablet into place and keeping it in place through a very snugly fitting frame and a couple of fasteners rather than parts that clip onto it. It’s impossible for the tablet to fall/slip out of the case unless you bend the back cover at the crease, as if you were about to prop it up into the stand – a pretty smart design. The only concern I have is for the clip on the side that keeps the front cover locked into place. The clip is just a small extension of the firm cardboard that bends to contour around the edge of the table (you can see this in the pictures). Since this small piece is fixed and un-bendable, you have to apply some pressure to get it onto place, rubbing the clip against the tablet edge each time. While the suede prevents any actual damage from happening here, I still would have maybe preferred a velcro strap or a button, but I guess that wouldn’t have made it very nice looking. This little clip also requires some effort to pry open, especially if the case is brand new, but I figure it will soften and get easier over time.
To cut to the chase: I was looking all over to find a light and tough case for my Tab 7.7, but the pickings were slim because the tablet is so new. Luckily this case fits that description with the added bonus that it looks so nice. If not for the clip, I would have given this 5 stars, but that’s just a personal preference. Considering the durability of this thing, I don’t think I’ll need to buy another case for my Tab for a long time, if ever, because I doubt that I’ll find another one that’s as simple and appealing as this one.

Shock protection: OEM BlackBerry PlayBook Black & Blue Zip Sleeve Case
Yes it’s intended for the BlackBerry PlayBook, but it fits the Tab 7.7 like a glove and it’s padded by some kind of memory foam material. Mind you, it isn’t thick, heavy duty protection, but of all the other sleeves out there, I’d trust this one the most with drop damage. (For heavier protection, go for a well padded case instead of a sleeve.) Comes in a variety of colors, and be forewarned that the BlackBerry logo is imprinted on the outside.

This case is very a nice addition to my Samsung Galaxy Tab 6810. The leather looks great, all the stitching is done very well. Theres good access to the ports and buttons. The tablet snaps into place, and stays there. It has a strap with elastic ends that wasnt in the pictures, and Im not quite sure what its for. Maybe one of you will figure it out, and let me know in the comments. The stand mechanism works great, and it has 3 different positions. It stays secure in the standing position even though it isnt really held in place. The bottom of the tablet rests into the grooves, and is secure enough. If your looking for a very nice standing book case you cant go wrong with this one. I highly recommend this, especially at the price. (I paid $15 shipped)
UPDATE: After searching for other cases on Amazon I figured out what the strap is. Its a hand strap for carrying it. Ive tried it and it feels a little weird holding it that way. But at least I know what it is now. And since then they have updated the pictures and description to include the strap so people arent surprised by it like I was, or end up having to remove it like another reviewer.
Also since then while I was browsing for accessories for my 7.7 I found this case here. MiniSuit Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7″ Inch P6800 Dual View 2-in-1 PU Leather Case and Cover (Black). LCD Cleaner Included It looks almost exactly like the poetic, but according to the pics, and description has no strap. But when I had originally preordered my Poetic one (before it was actually even manufactured) it also didnt show or describe a strap. And it wasnt until I got it that I saw it. So in other words if you decided to buy the Minisuit one above I would contact them first to make sure it really doesnt have a strap. Hope this helps.
Update: April 7th. I just wanted to add this to my review to warn people that are using screen protectors. The strap that is on this case has left permanent scuff marks on my Zagg screen protector. Because the strap bulges out it presses against the screen when it is closed. It left 2 marks on the Zagg that I tried to get out and cant. So I took it off, and wont be using this one again. I am going to order a similar one that doesnt have the strap like this one. MiniSuit Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7″ Inch P6800 Dual View 2-in-1 PU Leather Case and Cover (Black). LCD Cleaner Included, or maybe another if I can find another like the poetic but without the strap. Hopefully this new one doesnt leave any marking. Just a heads up.
