Was more than expected!!!!,
I looked around for a small notebook/laptop/palmtop for my daily web surfin’ and what not. What I found was this small all-in-one deal with a late gen Intel brain, good sized HDD and overall functions like Bluetooth, Wifi and good graphics.
First of all the bad and ugly:
The plastic finish feels cheap at the touch all around, but sturdy at the same time. The touch pad is veeeeery sensitive, or at least until you set it to your liking via the control panel…
There’s no BD player, but a DVD-RW included (the description fails to point this out clearly, or a DVD player at all).
The screen is too shiny and produces a lot of glare, enough to be used as an alternative for a mirror when off…
Second the good and beauty:
It’s fast! Did I mention that it’s fast? Wow! I’m hooked!
The people at Samsung did learn from feedback and only pre-loaded a very minimal amount of collateral software. All that it comes with is functional and of value to the end user. The colors are vivid and the screen automatically switches from settings depending on what’s being watched. The quality of the graphics is intense enough to merit playing games online. The keyboard is comfortable and the keys spaced in a way that mistakes are hard to come by. The sound is by far the best I have yet experienced from a mobile computer, and believe me I’d owned a lot of them (Dell, Compaq, HP, Sony, Asus, Gateway, etc…).
It runs very cool, even after several hours of heavy use. The battery is as described “long lasting”, the more so when you allow the system to control the power settings according to the usage. The 3 seconds “ON” from sleep mode is not false advertisement on this notebook, it’s that FAST! As a matter of fact even the power-on speed is impressive and FAST! Fast is a word that you’ll use a lot when explaining a lot of this notebook…
It’s 8 1/2 inches deep by 12 1/2 wide and 1 1/4 at max thickness. You can rest your palms on the two sides of the touchpad, with room to spare.
This one is a keeper! Worth the money I paid for it!
*It comes with a System recovery media DVD for the Windows 7 Home Premium Operating System!!! There’s no Microsoft Windows 7 Professional operating system on this notebook (as in the description on the top and where it later says correctly Windows 7 Home Premium…)
